A few days ago, I happened to be listening to a podcast while having a Q&A sesh from my past & current clients. I feel like the stars aligned and a lightbulb went off in my head: Bridal party gift-giving ideas with a purpose! The podcast that I was listening to was about finding your mission and purpose in your business (the interviewee’s mission was promoting ethically made goods) and one of the questions I received was about gift-giving on the wedding day. It was so perfect!
Weddings are expensive… I totally understand that. And sometimes it seems frivolous to be spending a lot on a wedding celebration when there are so many other ways that the world needs us to show up. I loved the idea of supporting others, both near and far, who are trying better themselves or the world around them.
I’ve put together some of my favorite products that are ethically sourced or support a charitable cause. I absolutely love this idea and I have a feeling this won’t be the last time I write a post on it! 🙂
ABLE
ABLE’s mission is to provide job opportunities for women in Ethiopia and other countries, who have faced sex-trafficking and other social/economical hardships. Their leather goods are all handcrafted within their supported countries. You can read more about what they do here. I found one of their beautiful leather totes in a boutique a few years ago and I loved the cause. It’s one of my favorite bags in my closet!
Pehn Lehn
Pehn Lehn is a jewelry boutique from Cambodia (ahem – adorable earrings your gals in every color). Their promoting fair trade by providing young women with fair employment, training, and educational opportunities in order to build a better life for themselves and their families. Check out their trendy pieces here!
This Is My Caus
This is another product that I came across during one of my recent trips to Charleston. I travel a lot by myself, which means I browse a lot of local boutiques when I’m bored, haha! 🙂 I think by now, we all own several of these drink tumblers, and they are super popular on wedding days! I loved that this company allows you to choose one of five different charities to support when buying their product. They support causes that range from animal rescue to clean drinking water. You can choose your favorite here!
52 Lists Project
This is one of my all-time favorite gifts that I’ve given to many of my friends. I didn’t know until recently that Moorea Seal’s 52 List book series donates a portion of their proceeds to five different charities. So, not only are you improving yourself with wonderful books, you’re also supporting a good cause! You can find more about their mission here.
