While growing up in Michigan, Stephanie and her family spent their summers traveling to their summer home in upstate New York on Chautauqua Lake. The distinct Victorian buildings at the Chautauqua Institution hold a lot of history for Stephanie’s family, as her parents had their own wedding years ago at the Athenaeum Hotel. So when Stephanie & Paul started planning their wedding from their current home in Arizona, Stephanie knew she wanted to return for another summer on the lake and follow in her parents footsteps of marrying her fiancé in front of the beautiful Victorian buildings that held so many memories.
It was fun to listen to all of the wonderful, nostalgic stories from their summers on the lake. How Paul was eventually introduced and took part in their family traditions. All of the close friends that they’ve made throughout the years from being a part of the community and all of the events that they’ve celebrated together. Everyone was so thrilled to be reunited to celebrate Stephanie & Paul’s wedding day.
I think everyone from their small community gathered to watch Stephanie & Paul exchange their wedding vows under the historic Hall of Philosophy that afternoon. The evening held cocktails and friends catching up on the grand patio that spans the entire length of the Athenaeum Hotel. After dinner and a full night of dancing, guests were treated with brick-oven pizza outside near the lake while they sent off Chinese lanterns for the bride and groom!
