Choosing your wedding venue is one of the very first steps that you’ll take in wedding planning. Sometimes venues are a blank slate, and sometimes they set the overall tone of your wedding day. Aside from the cost of the venue and your budget, here are a few more things to consider when choosing your venue!

1. Location

Some couples will choose their wedding venue based on proximity to their home and the location of their friends & family that will be attending the wedding. Other couples will decide to do a destination wedding, with the intention of traveling to their venue. Regardless of which option you decide to go with, it’s important to think about what the location of your venue has to offer. Does it have its’ own ceremony space or is it within a reasonable distance to your off-site ceremony location? Does the venue have an on-site area for your photography or will you be traveling to a different location for photos? These are a few things to consider when thinking about your location.

2. Capacity of the Guest List

It’s important to have a rough idea of a guest count when you first start looking at wedding venues. Some spaces are smaller than others, so you’ll want to choose a venue that can comfortably hold the number of guests you’re planning to invite.

3. Overall Feel of the Venue

Some venues can be a total blank canvas that you can decorate to your hearts desire. However, most venues will have some sort of overall feel already established in the landscape and decor. Northeast Ohio offers a very wide variety of venues, ranging from classic to modern and everything in between. It’s important that you venue compliments the overall feel that you’re trying to establish for your wedding day.

4. What’s Included

As mentioned before, some venues can include rentals and some decor items already, while some are bare-bones and require you to provide your own (or rent them from another source). It’s probably a good idea to price out both types of venues and see what makes the most sense for your day.

Choosing a wedding venue can be overwhelming at first. But when you find the space that completes the vision you have for your day, you’ll be one step closer to planning the best day ever.
